Who we are

As part of ERA’s commitment to helping licence holders make best use of the material available to them, we have decided to start highlighting our ‘top pick’ each week. We’re hoping to reveal multiple educational uses for a single episode, series, or film with enough time to act as a ‘heads up’ for teachers to be able to record, or access the material.

Beginning a series of programmes looking at people facing difficulties of the festive season, Homeless…at Christmas (10pm, 3rd December, Channel 5) follows individuals who will spend the holidays sleeping rough.

From Channel5:

Documentary series exploring the real-life stories of people who face a challenging festive season. Cathy lost her job in early 2014 and now sleeps in the bus station. Single mum Emily was evicted after complaining of unlivable conditions. 45-year-old Paul has been homeless since 16, and this will be his first Christmas indoors.

This programme could be of use to PSHE sessions, inspiring conversations on charity and social responsibility.
