ERA Tariff Rates from April 2014

From 1 April 2014 (New Single ERA Licence)

Higher Education

ERA has held discussions with Universities UK and Guild HE to lead to publication of a tariff that will apply for new single ERA Licences issued from 1 August 2014 when applied to educational establishments with students undertaking courses of Higher Education.

The terms of the single ERA Licence provide for tariff rates to be published on the ERA website.

The Schedule of Terms.

The annual tariff for students in Educational Establishments of Higher Education and students of other Educational Establishments who have attained the age of 18 at the start of the educational year when undertaking courses of Higher Education will be

£2.35 for each full time student or for each full time equivalent student.

A Higher Education student who is not on a full time or sandwich course will be treated as 0.35% of a “full time equivalent” for calculating fees due against the £2.35 tariff.

Further Education

ERA has held discussions with Association of Colleges, Colleges Scotland, Colleges Wales and Colleges Northern Ireland to lead to publication of a tariff that will apply for new single ERA Licences issued from 1 August 2014 when applied to students in establishments of Further Education who are over the age of 18 and not undertaking courses of Higher Education.

The terms of the single ERA Licenceprovide for tariff rates to be published on the ERA website.

ERA has previously published tariffs that will apply to student under the age of 18 and students undertaking courses of HE when attending colleges of Further Education.

The annual tariff for students in Educational Establishments of Further Education who are over the age of 18 at the start of the education year and who are undertaking courses of Further Education will be £1.50 for each full time student or for each full time equivalent student.

The rate for a  “full time equivalent” student will be applied against 450 guided learning hours for students who are not full time students, when the £1.50 tariff is applicable.

The rate will apply for new single ERA Licences issued with a commencement date on or after 1 August 2014.

From 1 August 2014 to 31 July 2015 the annual tariffs that may apply to students undertaking course at Further Education establishments will be:-

(a) for students in educational establishments of  Further Education (including former Sixth Form Colleges)  who have not attained the age of 18 at the start of the education year – 89p per student

(b) for students who are over the age of 18 at the start of the education year and who are undertaking courses of Further Education – £1.50 for each full time student or for each full time equivalent

(c) for students of who have attained the age of 18 at the start of the educational year when undertaking courses of Higher Education will be £2.35 for each full time student of for each full time equivalent.

Further discussions will take place concerning any changes to the tariff to apply from 1 August 2015.

Schools

ERA  has reached agreements that enable publication of tariff rates for schools which take out the new single ERA Licence from 1 April 2014

The annual tariff  for students in schools shall be

(a) for students in Primary schools (including Preparatory schools, special schools, pupil referral units and non-maintained special schools)

From 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2015   35p per student
From 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016   40p per student
From 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017   43p per student

(b) for students in Secondary schools and students in educational establishments of Further Education (including former Sixth Form Colleges) who have not attained the age of 18 at the start of the education year

From 1 April 2014 to 31 March 2015   89p per student
From 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016   91p per student
From 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017   93p per student

From 1 April 2013

The ERA Licensing Scheme sets out a published tariff per full-time (or full-time equivalent) student by type of educational establishment, i.e. primary, secondary, further and higher education. Details of the costs applicable from 1 April 2013 are set out in Statutory Instrument 2013 No 158.

The annual tariff for licences issued after 1 April 2013 (per capita, per annum) is:

Primary: 33p
Secondary: 59p
FE: £1.11
HE: £1.75

From 1 April 2011

The ERA Licensing Scheme sets out a published tariff per full-time (or equivalent) student by type of educational establishment, i.e. primary, secondary, further and higher education. Details of the costs applicable from 1 April 2011 are set out in Statutory Instrument 2011 No 159.

The annual tariff for licences issued after 1 April 2011 (per capita, per annum) is:

Primary: 32p
Secondary: 57p
FE: £1.07
HE: £1.68

From 1 April 2009

The ERA Licensing Scheme sets out a published tariff per full-time (or equivalent) student by type of educational establishment, i.e. primary, secondary, further and higher education. Details of the costs applicable from 1 April 2009 are set out in Statutory Instrument 2009 No 20.

The annual tariff for licences issued after 1 April 2009 (per capita, per annum) is:

Primary: 32p
Secondary: 56p
FE: £1.06
HE: £1.67
