Synopsis
Nelson Mandela has been in prison in South Africa for the past 19 years. From 1950 Mandela became increasingly important in African politics. Initially, he organised minor demonstrations against the apartheid laws but soon he was to be the organiser of a national ' stay at home'. He was finally arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment for conspiring to overthrow the South African government.
