Bard on the Box | The Shakespeare Laboratory
Measure for Measure
In the first of two programmes, top directors from both sides of the Atlantic use the workshop format to explore their personal vision of Shakespeare. Tonight, Adrian Noble, Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company, is joined by leading RSC actors Anthony Sher, Joanne Pearce and Simon Russell Beale for an intensive week of experimentation on a crucial episode at the heart of Measure for Measure - the most modern and disturbing of all the comedies - in which the chaste Isabella pleads with the corrupt Angelo for the life of her brother Claudio.
