UK university students returning home overseas due to the pandemic can access BBC News Channel until September 2020
International students currently enrolled at UK universities who have had to return overseas due to the COVID-19 crisis can temporarily access the BBC News Channel via BoB, the UK streaming service for education.
This new development will mean students based at a UK university but currently living anywhere in the world are able to stream content from the UK’s BBC News Channel. The BBC News Channel includes extensive news coverage as well as programmes such as Panorama, Coronavirus Daily Update and HARDtalk. The scheme was initially intended to continue through to the end of July 2020, but has since been extended to the end of September 2020.
ERA’s CEO Helena Djurkovic said “I am delighted that ERA has been able to help mediate access to vital broadcast content to those students who have had to return home due to this awful pandemic. We will continue to explore ways to support British educational institutions manage remote access to the ERA Repertoire.”
