Synopsis

Tommo recalls how Charlie and he are posted to the front line trenches. Tommo is relieved to be going and - he hopes - leaving Sergeant Hanley for good. Once at the Front the two brothers are part of a night patrol sent across no-man's-land to take an enemy soldier prisoner.

It is 1914, and struggling Devon farmer Ted Narracott buys a remarkable but unsuitable horse at auction.
