The first part of a full-length stereophonic radio adaptation of the uncut text of Shakespeare’s play produced by John Tydeman. This was the first time Paul Scofield played Othello. This was the first of a new BBC Radio 3 series of major drama productions.

The Donmar Warehouse production of Othello, directed by Michael Grandage, with Chiwetel Ejiofor in the title role and Ewan McGregor as lago. Ejiofor received particular acclaim for his portrayal of a leader consumed by jealousy, winning Best Actor in the Olivier Awards and Critic's Circle Award for Best Shakespearean Performance.
